Privacy Policy
How this website handles personal data, under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
1. Controller
The party responsible for data processing on this website is:
Email: [ shown in your browser ]
2. Hosting and server log files
This website is hosted by Netlify, Inc., 512 2nd Street, Suite 200, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA (the "hosting provider"). When you visit the site, the hosting provider automatically collects and stores technical information that your browser transmits, in server log files. This may include your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring URL, and your browser and operating system. This information is required to deliver the website and to keep it secure and stable.
This data is processed on the basis of our legitimate interest in the secure and stable operation of the website (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). It is not merged with other data and is retained only for as long as necessary for these purposes.
Because Netlify is based in the United States, delivering this website involves a transfer of the above data to a third country. This transfer is safeguarded by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses, which we have concluded with the hosting provider as part of a data processing agreement. Netlify does not set cookies on your device for this website and runs no analytics or tracking on our behalf.
3. Cookies and tracking
This website does not set cookies. It does not use web analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking services, and it does not store information on your device for tracking purposes. For these reasons a cookie consent banner is not required.
4. Fonts
All fonts used on this website are hosted locally on our own server. No font files are loaded from third-party servers such as Google Fonts, and therefore no data, including your IP address, is transmitted to such providers when the pages load.
5. Links to Amazon and the Amazon Associates Program
Book pages link to product pages on Amazon. Links to our own titles are ordinary links without affiliate tracking parameters.
We participate in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program. On our reading guide pages, links to books by other publishers contain an affiliate identifier as part of the link address. If you follow such a link and make a qualifying purchase, we receive a commission. The identifier is a static part of the URL: this website itself does not set cookies and does not read or store any information on your device for this purpose. Only after you follow the link does Amazon process your data on its own sites, under Amazon's own privacy policy and consent management. We have no influence over that processing. Affiliate links are disclosed on the pages where they appear.
6. Contact by email
If you contact us by email, the information you provide is used solely to handle your enquiry and any follow-up questions. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) or, where applicable, the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). We delete this data once it is no longer required and no statutory retention periods prevent deletion.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to its processing, and to data portability. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the email address above.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to the website or to legal requirements. The current version is the one published on this page.
