Quiet Paths of Eastern Philosophy
Two short books by Jun Ming Chen that take the old ideas of the East and set them down where an ordinary week actually happens. One moves a page a day through Taoism; the other moves a story a week through Zen. Read either on its own, or let them run side by side, one in the morning and one across the week.
The books
365 Days of Taoism is the daily one: a single Taoist idea and a short scene for every date, five minutes before the day starts. 52 Weeks of Zen is the weekly one: a Zen story and one small practice you live with for seven days before the next arrives. Together they cover the two great quiet traditions of the East, one built on flowing with the grain of things, the other on meeting each moment with fresh attention.
A reading path
If you would rather start with an article than a book, these run through the same ideas and lead back to the series.
